Voluntary Author Contributions (VACs):

Authors are made aware of VACs at the point of submission, and an author submit atricle, paper, research or news as a Voluntar author. This Voluntary Code is offered in the spirit of best practice, and to further good relationships between publishers and authors. The published articles are made available to institutions and individuals who subscribe update.

The VAC is genuinely voluntary. If you do not know about your institution’s policy, please contact your departmental. If your research is supported by a funder that requires immediate open access. Whether or not the author is able to contribute makes absolutely no difference to editorial decision-making on the submission. An author cannot receive royalties for their publication, the author given the copyright to the publisher at the time of publication.
