Solar Module with high efficiency
PR Newswire: The Chinese manufacturer said its new i-TOPCon Ultra panel is part of the Vertex N family and is intended for applications in utility-scale projects. The Pro-XL series features modules in outputs of 740 to 760 Wp and module efficiency of up to 22.5%.
TOPCon Technology (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) was brought first into the solar industry in 2013 by the German Researchers of Fraunhofer Institute of Solar Energy Systems as the best combination of efficiency and durability about capital cost. As the name suggests, TOPCon cells use a thin, passivating tunnel oxide layer that enables excellent carrier selectivity and low contact resistance, allowing more sunlight to be converted into electricity.
In simple terms, TOPCon technology combines the best benefits of older cell technologies like PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell) and heterojunction cells into one single architecture while avoiding their drawbacks. As a result, TOPCon delivers superior efficiency of over 22%, compared to around 18–19% for PERC cells currently.
Trinasolar plans to start mass production and delivery of new i-TOPCon Ultra panel series 760W and a power conversion efficiency of 24.5% modules in Q2 of 2025 with an initial production capacity of 10 GW. The module has a bifaciality factor of 90% and a temperature coefficient of -0.29%/C. “First-year degradation rate is 1% and annual degradation is 0.4%.
Reliance New Energy Ltd, an arm of Reliance Industries Ltd, has showcased its made-in-India bifacial HJT solar modules Pro-XL series 740 to 760 Wp module with efficiency of up to 22.5%. Key features of Pro-XL and Pro-L series modules include lowest temperature coefficient of power (-0.24% per degree C), lowest annual deration (0.3% per year), 90.3% power at the end of 30 years warranty, and 86%±5% bifaciality.
WAAREE Ahnay Series solar module have a power output range of 515 W to 545 W. With backside power gain, their output can range from 670 W to 709 W. 21.17% (Only front); 27.52% in bifacial mode.
Adani ELAN SHINE TOPCon solar panels have a power output range of 550 W to 575 W. 22.3% (Only front); 28.2% in bifacial mode.
